Art by Pat Dunning

My original artwork includes four styles of paintings: 1) Realistic: Generally, an attempt to represent a subject matter truthfully without artificiality, exaggeration or speculative elements; 2) Representational art retains the principle of presenting the viewer with “recognizable subject matter”; but, it is rendered in a semi-abstract style. 3) Abstract:  The subject matter is basically rejected in favor of pure color and gesture; and 4) Impressionistic:  Specifically, I paint reproductions of French impressionist paintings, using thick, loose brush strokes of contrasting colors that the French artists used to capture landscapes and contemporary everyday French life.
